Sound Effects Expert on the Role of Sound in TV, Film & Advertising

Co-host Brad Forsythe interviews Fred Newman, author of “MouthSounds: How to whistle, pop, boing, and honk for all occasions… and then some”. Fred has created voices and sounds for dozens of movies including “Gremlins I & II”, “Who Framed Roger Rabbit?” and “Practical Magic”. He has received two Emmy nominations for his work on PBS’s “Between the Lions” and tours regularly with Garrison Keillor on NPR, providing improvised sound effects for “A Prairie Home Companion”. In 1980, Fred began working as an actor and writer with Jim Henson, and hosting shows for Nickelodeon and Disney including the New Mickey Mouse Club with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, and JC Chasez. He created voices, music, and sound effects for the long-running Nickelodeon and Disney series “Doug” and went on to win Aces, Emmys, Peabodys, and Clios.
